Our decks design and drafting department provides Custom Deck Designs per request.  Since 1978 we have designed structured and built, or assisted in building, tens of thousands of decks.  High in the air decks, spa decks and pool decks require critical attention to detail for proper weight engineering and structuring.

The process begins by you sending us some important information:

1. The door sill height to the ground. T.O.D.
2. The back and/or side measurements of your house.
3. Door and window locations along with their measurements.
4. Your budget and whether you will be using a contractor or doing it yourself.
5. Approximate location of where you would like your deck built.
6. Any special considerations; spa, grill area, planters, young children, etc.
7. OPTIONAL: Photographs or Polaroids of back and/or side of house. (deck location)
8. Include any additional information you feel we should take into consideration while designing your project.

After processing your order and receiving your information; here's what happens:

1. Your deck project will be sent to our Design and Drafting Department and assigned to a Senior Draftsperson.  Custom Deck Design projects are only handled by our most experienced staff members.
2. In about 7-21 days we will create your initial deck design*.  If time is of the essence; a 5-10 Day RUSH SERVICE is available.  For quality control and to ensure your satisfaction, you will receive by FAX, rendered preliminary drawings in Floor Plan, 3-D, and Elevation Views for your review.  (We offer an Online Viewing and Printing option if a FAX machine is unavailable to you.)  This is our what you see is what you get approach.  3-D aspects enable you to see traffic patterns and furniture placement from a more true to life vantage point.  If necessary, any changes you desire are addressed at this stage.

4. After you inspect the drawings you can make changes or approve your project.  A major benefit of this Custom Service is that we keep drawing until you're satisfied.  You see every design change along the way during the entire process.  You can relax because nothing's set in stone until you say so.
5. Upon your deck design approval, we will begin preparing the deck construction package.  See our What You Receive section for details on complete deck construction packages.
6. In about 3-7 days after final deck design approval, determined by the complexity of your project, we will ship you the  complete deck construction package for your deck project.

How Many Sets of Deck Construction Plans do I Need?
This will depend upon a few circumstances.  If you are required to apply for a Zoning and/or Building Permits each office will need at least one set of plans.  If you are going to use a deck contractor they will need a set of prints.  If you are borrowing money to build your outdoor project many lending institutions ask for a set of prints to establish the value of the improvement.  Some communities have a subdivision review board which may want to retain a set.  Fortunately, because we include a thorough material list in each porch plan construction package your supplier will not need a set of plans.

Because you save money on multi set discount packages, you should consider ordering all of the Additional Identical Plans you will need at purchase time.  The cost per additional set decreases with every quantity level.
